Key Market Indicators
Canadian air transport traffic is projected to see a decline in departures by 2028. The number of departures is expected to drop to approximately 1.2 million from around 1.3 million in 2023, marking an annual compound growth rate (CAGR) decrease of 0.8%. Historically, Canadian demand for air transport has shown a modest increase of 0.5% per year since 1975. Despite this long-term upward trend, recent forecasts suggest a downturn in the coming years. In the global ranking for 2023, Canada secured the fourth position in terms of air transport departures. India, with roughly 1.3 million departures, surpassed Canada. The top three spots were occupied by China, India, and Canada, respectively.
