Despite this growth, Mauritania was ranked 121st globally in 2023 for the number of air transport departures. In the same year, Bhutan surpassed Mauritania with about 5,290 departures. Leading the global rankings, China, India, and Canada occupied the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
