In a significant decline, Lithuanian air transport traffic saw a dramatic drop to approximately 383 departures in 2023, a stark contrast from the nearly 1,000 departures recorded in 2022. This represents a decrease of about 62% compared to the previous year. The downward trend has been ongoing since 1997, with the latest figures indicating a year-on-year decline of roughly 31%. As a result, Lithuania's ranking fell to 144th globally in 2023. Somalia also reported the same number of departures, positioning itself just ahead of Lithuania. At the top of the list, China, India, and Canada secured the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots, respectively, in terms of air transport traffic.
