Ecuador's bitumen export is set to plunge by 38.1% this year, from 12,490 kilograms in 2021 to around 984.16 kilograms by 2026. This dramatic drop follows an 18.8% decrease since 2005. In 2021, Ecuador sat at 67th place in the exporting rankings, with Slovenia overtaking it. Belgium, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago followed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, respectively. Meanwhile, Ecuador's bitumen imports surged by 56.7% in 2018, from 216,060 kilograms the previous year to 338,470 kilograms. This was despite a 45% decrease since 1996. That same year, Ecuador was placed 83rd in the importing rankings, with Gambia overtaking it. Egypt, Oman and Canada came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
