Malagasy polyurethane imports dropped by 22.8% in 2021, to 16,760 kilograms, down from 21,710 kilograms in 2020. This represents a 5.5% decline since 1995. Swaziland surpassed Madagascar to take the number 128 spot, while India, Germany and Iran ranked numbers 2, 3 and 4 in the ranking. Since 2002, Malagasy supply has increased by 40.8% year-on-year. In 2018, Lebanon overtook Madagascar with 4,170 kilograms, while China, Italy and the United States ranked numbers 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
