Russia is set to become the world's leading producer of polyurethane by 2026. Export of the substance is expected to reach 12.3 million kilograms, representing a 3.8% year-on-year growth since 2021. Since 2001, Russian exports have grown by 13.2% year-on-year. In 2021, Russia was the 23rd largest exporter, with Romania overtaking at 9.7 million kilograms. China, Italy and the United States were the second, third and fourth largest exporters respectively. Russia is also projected to become one of the world's largest importers of polyurethane, reaching 61.8 million kilograms in 2026. This figure is a 2.5% year-on-year growth since 2021. Demand for the substance has risen by 5.9% year-on-year since 2001. In 2021, Russia was the tenth largest importer, with France overtaking at 52.5 million kilograms. India, Germany and Iran were the second, third and fourth biggest importers respectively.
