In 2018, Kenyan Hydrogen trade balance recorded a deficit of $12,310, compared with a surplus of $24,460 in 2017. Kenya's export of hydrogen surged 59.2% to $19,330 in 2018, up from $12,140 in 2017. This was 19.4% higher than the level recorded in 1997. Guatemala overtook Kenya, coming in at 46th in the rankings. The Netherlands, Belgium and the United States were in second, third and fourth place respectively. Meanwhile, the import of hydrogen into Kenya dropped 13.6% to $31,640 in 2018, compared to $36,600 in 2017. This was 68.3% higher than the level recorded in 2010. Thailand overtook Kenya in the rankings, with Belgium, France and the Netherlands coming in second, third and fourth place respectively. In 2018, Kenya reported a trade deficit of $12,310 in hydrogen, compared to a surplus of $24,460 in 2017.
