South African hydrogen exports are projected to reach almost $4.2 million by 2026. This is an increase of 5.1% on the 2021 figure of $3.1 million. Since 2005, exports have grown by 138.7%. South Africa was the seventh-largest exporter in 2021, with France overtaking it with $3.1 million. The Netherlands, Belgium and the United States were the top three exporters, respectively. Imports of South African hydrogen dropped to $2.1 million in 2021 from $4.4 million in 2020, a decrease of 51.8%. Since 2005, demand has dropped by 22.6%. In 2021, the country was the 102nd-largest importer, with Greenland overtaking it with $2.1 million. Belgium, France and the Netherlands were the top three importers respectively.
