Benin is set to become one of the world’s top importers of hydrogen by 2026. The country’s import of the gas is forecast to reach $9.3 billion by the end of the period, up 3.2% annually from 2021. Since 2004, Benin’s demand for hydrogen has grown at an average rate of 1.9% a year. In 2021, it ranked 82nd in the world, overtaking Argentina’s $7.6 billion. Belgium, France and the Netherlands came in at 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively.
