India is set to become one of the world's largest importers of natural rubber by 2026. Last year, India imported $976 million worth of rubber, making it the fifth-largest importer in the world. Japan was at the top of the list, followed by the United States, Malaysia and Japan. Meanwhile, India's natural rubber exports fell 22.2% to $6.8 billion in 2021, compared to $8.8 billion in 2020. Since 1993, its exports have declined by 28.6%. Bangladesh was the leading exporter, followed by Indonesia, Ivory Coast and Malaysia. With an average growth rate of 2.6% year-on-year, India is projected to become one of the world's largest importers of natural rubber by 2026, reaching a total of $1.14 billion.
