Kazakhstan's asbestos exports are set to remain at around 182 million kilograms annually over the next five years. This marks a steady increase from 2005, when the country exported just 1.7% more each year on average. Kazakhstan ranked second in 2021, behind Russia, with 182 million kilograms exported. Brazil and China were ranked third and fourth respectively. In 2018, Kazakhstan's asbestos imports plummeted by 65.6% compared to the previous year, reaching 44,590 kilograms. Since 2005, the country's demand for asbestos imports has increased by 5.3% each year on average. In 2018, it ranked 32nd, behind Botswana. China, Indonesia, and Myanmar were second, third, and fourth respectively.
