The Philippines is set to see a slight decrease in asbestos imports by 2026, with an average yearly drop of 2.3%. This follows an overall decrease since 2001, when the country saw a 9.6% year-on-year reduction in imports. In 2021, the Philippines was ranked 13th in the world in terms of asbestos imports, with 1.7 million kilograms of the substance entering the country. Ukraine overtook the Philippines, with 1.9 million kilograms. China, Indonesia and Myanmar ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
