Since 1994, Indonesian export has grown an average of 0.5% year on year. Indonesia is set to become the third largest importer of asbestos in the world by 2026. In 2021, the country imported 113,430,000 kilograms of the mineral, up 0.6% year-on-year on average. This was behind China, which had the highest import at 113,430,000 kilograms. China, Indonesia and Myanmar respectively were numbers two, three and four in the ranking. Indonesia's export of asbestos totaled 158,660 kilograms in 2016, down from 217,410 kilograms in 2015. Over the past two decades, export levels have increased by an average of 0.5% year-on-year.
