Czech imports of asbestos skyrocketed in 2018, rising 265.7% from 350 kilograms in 2017 to a total of 1,280 kilograms. This is in stark contrast to the country's decreasing demand since 1998, which has dropped 34% year on year. In 2018, the Czech Republic ranked 46th in global asbestos imports, trailing behind Cyprus in 45th with 1,280 kilograms. China, Indonesia and Myanmar came in second, third and fourth respectively.
