Sri Lankan asbestos imports are set to reach 73.6 million kilograms by 2026, according to a recent report. That's an increase of 1.9% year on year, compared to the 65.8 million kilograms imported in 2021. Since 1999, Sri Lankan demand has been declining at a rate of 1% year-on-year. In 2021, the country was ranked fifth in the world, with Myanmar overtaking it to become number four. China, Indonesia and Myanmar were ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
