Kazakhstan’s pesticide consumption is expected to reach nearly 16,000 metric tons by 2026. This 2% year-on-year growth rate represents an increase of 6.4% since 1997. In 2021, Kazakhstan ranked 30th in the world, with a consumption of 14,130 metric tons, behind Bangladesh. The United States, Brazil, and Argentina ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Kazakhstan’s pesticide imports dropped dramatically in 2018, to 1.25 metric tons from 16.18 metric tons in 2017 – a decrease of 92.3%. Since 2003, demand has fallen 24.7% year-on-year. Kazakhstan ranked 41st in 2018, with Senegal ranking higher at 1.25 metric tons. Thailand, Germany, and Taiwan came in second, third, and fourth, respectively.
