Since 1995, the Dominican market has grown at an average rate of 4.5% year on year. In 2021, the Dominican Republic was ranked 47th in pesticide consumption, behind Cameroon’s 7,320 metric tons. The United States, Brazil, and Argentina ranked second, third, and fourth respectively. In 2018, Dominican pesticide imports dropped to 560 metric tons, from 1,890 metric tons in 2017, a decrease of 70.1% compared to the previous year. Since 2013, Dominican demand has dropped by 43.4% year on year. In 2018, the Dominican Republic was ranked 44th in pesticide imports, behind Mexico’s 560 metric tons. Thailand, Germany, and Taiwan ranked second, third, and fourth respectively.
