Latvian pesticide consumption is set to reach 1,840 metric tons by 2026, growing 1.6% year-on-year. This is up from 1,660 metric tons in 2021 and down from the 1997 record of 1,686 metric tons. In 2021, Latvia was number 75 in terms of pesticide consumption, with Sri Lanka ahead at 1,660 metric tons. The United States, Brazil and Argentina respectively were numbers 2, 3 and 4 in the ranking. Latvian pesticide imports also saw an increase, with 0.01 metric tons in 2018, up from 0 metric tons in 2017. This was a 133.3% jump compared to the previous year. Since 2000, Latvian demand has decreased 16.3% on a yearly basis. In 2018, Latvia was number 71 in terms of pesticide imports, with Tunisia ahead at 0.01 metric tons. Thailand, Germany and Taiwan respectively were numbers 2, 3 and 4 in the ranking.
