Nepal is projected to see a rise in pesticide consumption over the next five years, increasing 2.8% year on year on average. In 2021, the country was ranked 90th, with 872 metric tons of consumption. This was lower than Burkina Faso in first place, with the United States, Brazil and Argentina in second, third and fourth respectively. Meanwhile, Nepalese pesticide imports are set to decrease by 1.2% year on year. In 2021, Nepal was in 48th place, with 0.27 metric tons – lower than Greece in first place, with Thailand, Germany and Taiwan in second, third and fourth. Since 2015, imports have increased 57.6%.
