Pineapple consumption in Panama is expected to reach 96,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 82,000 metric tons in 2021, growing at a rate of 2.5% a year. Since 2017, demand has increased by 3.5% a year. In 2021, Panama was the 37th largest consumer of pineapples, with Madagascar taking the lead at 82,000 metric tons. Brazil, India and the United States ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Production of pineapples in Panama is expected to reach 131,320 metric tons by 2026, up from 117,470 metric tons in 2021, increasing at an average rate of 1.9% annually. Since 1966, output has risen by 4.5% a year. In 2021, the US was number one with 117,470 metric tons, while Panama came in at 30th. The Philippines, Brazil and China placed second, third and fourth respectively.
