Brazilian demand for cassava is projected to decline by 2% year on year on average until 2026, dropping from 6.13 million metric tons in 2021 to 5.43 million metric tons. This decline has been ongoing since 2017, at a rate of 1.5% year on year. In 2021, Mozambique was the leading consumer of cassava, at 6.13 million metric tons, followed by Indonesia, Ghana and Brazil at 4.62 million metric tons, 3.62 million metric tons, and 2.13 million metric tons respectively. Brazilian production of cassava is forecasted to decline by 2.6% year on year on average until 2026, decreasing from 16.56 million metric tons in 2021 to 14.17 million metric tons. Since 1966, the rate of decline has been 4.7% year on year. In 2021, Ghana led the production of cassava, at 16.56 million metric tons, followed by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand and Ghana at 9.87 million metric tons, 7.75 million metric tons, and 7.18 million metric tons respectively.
