Cuban consumption of cassava is set to expand in the coming years. In 2021, Cuba ranked 29th in the world for cassava consumption, with 546,000 metric tons, and is projected to reach 625,000 metric tons by 2026. This increase represents an average growth rate of 2.2% year-on-year from 2017. The Central African Republic topped the 2021 rankings with 546,000 metric tons. Indonesia, Ghana and Mozambique respectively ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Cuban production of cassava is also set to rise, reaching 966,100 metric tons by 2026 from 871,990 metric tons in 2021. This represents a compound annual growth rate of 1.8% since 1966. Colombia was ahead of Cuba in 2021, ranking 34th with 871,990 metric tons. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand and Ghana respectively ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
