Guatemala's cassava production is projected to drop 2.4 percent annually over the next five years, according to a new report. This follows a 3.4 percent year-on-year decrease since 1966. In 2021, Guatemala ranked 73rd, with 3,590 metric tons produced. Cape Verde outranked Guatemala with 4,150 metric tons produced. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand, and Ghana followed as the second, third, and fourth largest producers, respectively. Consumption of cassava in Guatemala stood at 4,000 metric tons in 2018, a slight drop from 2017.
