By 2026, Costa Rican cassava consumption is expected to reach 13,000 metric tons, down 1.5% annually on average from 14,000 metric tons in 2021. From 2017, demand has dropped 2.3% a year. The US topped the 2021 ranking at 14,000 metric tons, followed by Indonesia, Ghana and Mozambique. Meanwhile, production is forecast to hit 176,940 metric tons by 2026, growing 1.2% yearly on average from 164,970 metric tons in 2021. Output has increased 1.7% annually since 1966. The Dominican Republic was ahead of Costa Rica in 2021 at 164,970 metric tons, while the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand and Ghana came in second, third and fourth place.
