This decline has been a consistent trend since 1966, with the country falling to number 75 in 2021, overtaken by Burkina Faso with 3,890 metric tons. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand, and Ghana followed as numbers 2, 3, and 4 in this ranking. In terms of consumption, French Polynesian cassava production reached 3,000 metric tons in 2018, up slightly from 2017.
