Ugandan cocoa production is projected to rise to 45,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 39,000 metric tons in 2021 – an average annual growth rate of 2.5%. Since 1966, the country's cocoa supply has risen by 2% a year. In 2021, Uganda was in 12th place in the world rankings, with Papua New Guinea overtaking it with 38,610 metric tons. Ghana, Indonesia, and Nigeria were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th largest producers, respectively. Ugandan cocoa imports are expected to reach 425,000 kilograms by 2026, up from 327,000 kilograms in 2021 – an average annual growth rate of 4.1%. Since 2005, the country's cocoa demand has increased by 49.3% a year. In 2021, Uganda was in the 43rd spot in the world rankings, with the Philippines overtaking it with 327,300 kilograms. The United States, Malaysia, and Germany were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th biggest importers, respectively.
