Colombia is set to produce 133,010 metric tons of cocoa by 2026. This is a 3.1% average year-on-year growth since 1966, when production was up 14.2%. Colombia was ninth in the world in 2021, though Peru overtook it with 110,370 metric tons. Ghana, Indonesia and Nigeria respectively ranked second, third and fourth. In 2018, Colombia imported 669,880 kilograms of cocoa, a dramatic 37.2% increase compared to 488,330 kilograms in 2017. Since 1997, however, demand has decreased by 22% year-on-year. In 2018, Colombia was 41st in the world, while Portugal was ahead with 669,880 kilograms. The United States, Malaysia and Germany respectively ranked second, third and fourth.
