Cocoa production in Nicaragua is expected to reach nearly 10,000 metric tons by 2026. This is an increase of 3.3% each year since 1966. Nicaragua currently ranks 25th in production, with the Philippines coming in ahead at 7,870 metric tons. Ghana, Indonesia and Nigeria rank 2nd, 3rd and 4th in this ranking, respectively. Nicaragua's cocoa imports have seen a large spike in recent years. In 2018, the country imported 69 kilograms of cocoa, an increase of 762.5% from the year before. Since 1999, however, imports have decreased by 21.4% each year. Nicaragua is currently ranked 106th in imports, with Samoa coming in ahead at 69 kilograms. The United States, Malaysia and Germany rank 2nd, 3rd and 4th in this ranking, respectively.
