In 2016, Sri Lanka imported cocoa from the Netherlands (65.5%), Malaysia (14.5%) and France (7.2%). Sri Lanka's cocoa production is projected to drop by nearly 1.6% annually over the coming years. In 2021, the country was ranked 31st in the world, with 1,570 metric tons. Vanuatu was ahead of Sri Lanka, with 1,570 metric tons, while Ghana, Indonesia, and Nigeria occupied the second, third, and fourth spots respectively. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's cocoa imports fell by 32.4% in 2017 compared to the year prior - totaling 150,810 kilograms. This was a 41% decrease since 1999. The Netherlands, Malaysia, and France were the main suppliers, with 65.5%, 14.5%, and 7.2% of the imports respectively.
