Uganda is set to become a major exporter of insulin over the next five years. Export of the drug is expected to increase by 1.9% year-on-year on average, rising from 773.3 kilograms in 2021 to 855.7 kilograms by 2026. Since 2004, Uganda has seen a steady increase of 1.6% year-on-year. In 2021, the country was ranked 43rd in the world, with Croatia coming ahead at 773.3 kilograms. India, Italy and Germany respectively came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Uganda is also set to become a major importer of insulin, with import of the drug expected to rise from 51,480 kilograms in 2021 to 64,310 kilograms by 2026, growing 3.8% year-on-year on average. Since 1999, the country has seen a 10.8% year-on-year increase in demand. In 2021, Uganda was ranked 64th in the world, with Serbia coming ahead at 51,480 kilograms. France, Germany and the United Kingdom respectively ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
