South Africa is set to become an increasingly important player in the insulin market. Exports are expected to reach 180,330 kilograms by 2026, up from 140,750 kilograms in 2021, at an average rate of 4% year on year. Since 2005, supply has grown by 70%, making South Africa the 18th largest exporter in 2021, overtaken by Ukraine. India, Italy and Germany respectively occupied the second, third and fourth positions. South African imports are also expected to increase, reaching 706,380 kilograms by 2026, up from 611,210 kilograms in 2021, at a rate of 2.3% year on year. Since 2005, demand has grown by 8.6%, making South Africa the 19th largest importer in 2021, overtaken by Greece. France, Germany and the United Kingdom respectively held the second, third and fourth positions.
