Sweden is set to see a 1.1% year-on-year increase in insulin import over the next five years, with 369,060 kilograms expected by 2026. Since 1997, Swedish demand has increased 3.6% each year. In 2021, Sweden came in 28th place, with the United Arab Emirates ahead at 350,350 kilograms. France, Germany and the United Kingdom followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. Swedish insulin exports also saw a significant jump in 2018, rising 136.7% from 2,130 kilograms in 2017 to 5,050 kilograms. Since 2000, supply has grown 137.4% annually. In 2018, the Netherlands overtook Sweden in terms of export, with 5,050 kilograms. India, Italy and Germany came in second, third and fourth respectively.
