Singaporean imports of ethylene saw a 16.4% decline in 2021, reaching 7.4 million kg. This is a 47.5% drop from the peak in 2005. Thailand overtook Singapore, becoming the 22nd largest importer of ethylene. China, Indonesia and Germany placed second, third and fourth respectively. Singaporean exports of ethylene are projected to reach 377.8 million kg by 2026, increasing at an average rate of 2.5% a year since 2005. Italy overtook Singapore, becoming the sixth largest exporter of ethylene. South Korea, the United Kingdom and Japan placed second, third and fourth respectively.
