Italian geothermal energy consumption is projected to rise to approximately 242,000 terajoules by 2028, up from around 226,000 terajoules in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 1.1%. However, since 1995, Italian demand for geothermal energy has seen a slight annual decline of 0.1%. In the global ranking, Iceland, France, and Germany occupy the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. On the generation side, Italian geothermal output is expected to reach about 67,000 gigawatt-hours by 2028, up from nearly 63,000 gigawatt-hours in 2023, also growing at an average annual rate of 1.1%. Similar to consumption, the supply has experienced a minor annual decrease of 0.1% since 1995. Iceland, France, and Germany again hold the second, third, and fourth spots in this ranking.
