This marks a shift from the historical trend, which saw global demand for mobile subscriptions rise by an average of 1.2% annually since 1985. In 2023, China led the world with nearly 1.83 billion mobile subscriptions. India secured the second spot, followed by the United States and Indonesia, ranking third and fourth respectively. Among individual countries, Eritrea experienced a significant increase in mobile subscribers, growing by 17% year over year. In contrast, Liberia saw a notable decrease, with subscriptions dropping by 11.9% annually since 1985.
