Analyzing the data on the number of ATMs in Mali from 2013 to 2023, we observe a modest but overall upward trend. In 2023, the number of ATMs stood at 5.70 units per hundred thousand persons, marking a year-on-year increase of 5.36%. Despite fluctuations, including declines in 2020 and 2021, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the last five years stands at 1.66% annually.
Over the next five years, the number of ATMs is forecasted to grow with a CAGR of 1.9%, reaching approximately 6.46 units per hundred thousand persons by 2028. This forecasted growth translates to a cumulative increase of 9.86% from the 2023 level.
Future trends to watch for include the adoption of digital banking channels, potential regulatory changes, and economic fluctuations, which may impact the deployment of physical ATMs. Strategic investments in fintech could also play a significant role in shaping this sector.
