In 2023, European tourism international receipts showed varying trends across countries. France led with €67.06 billion, up by 1.73% year-on-year. Italy and Germany followed with €53.7 billion and €47.13 billion, respectively, registering yearly changes of +3.77% for Italy and -1.43% for Germany. The Netherlands saw a robust growth of 4.78%, while Portugal, Ireland, and Sweden experienced increases of 3.65%, 3.52%, and 3.38%, respectively. Switzerland posted a significant rise of 4.7%, while Hungary saw the highest relative growth at 6.89%. Conversely, Belgium and Iceland faced downturns, with Iceland's receipts falling dramatically by 16.29%.

Future trends to watch include sustained growth in Southern and Central European destinations, driven by increasing traveler interest in cultural and historical experiences. Conversely, Nordic countries might face challenges due to higher travel costs and economic conditions. Increased digitization and the rise of sustainable travel initiatives are also anticipated to shape the landscape of European tourism receipts.
