In 2021, Latvia placed 73rd in the world rankings, with Uzbekistan ahead of it at 6,000 metric tons. Germany, France and Russia were the top three countries in the ranking. Meanwhile, Latvia's butter production is forecast to drop by 3.4% year-on-year on average to 3,830 metric tons by 2026. Since 1997, the country's butter production has decreased by 8.3% annually. In 2021, Hungary surpassed it at 4,680 metric tons. New Zealand, Germany and France were the top three countries in the ranking.
