In 2021, France was ranked 12th in terms of wheat consumption, with Algeria overtaking with 7.9 million metric tons. India, the United States and Pakistan took the top three spots in the ranking. Production of wheat in France is set to reach 41 million metric tons by 2026, an increase of 0.5% year-on-year on average. Since 1966, French wheat production has risen by 6.2% year-on-year. In 2021, the United States was the top producer with 39.7 million metric tons, followed by India, Russia and the United States in the second, third and fourth spots respectively.
