Uzbekistan was the highest consumer in 2021, at 5,560 thousand metric tons, with India, the US and Pakistan ranked second, third and fourth. Japanese wheat production is also set to increase, with 1,075,000 metric tons forecast for 2026. This is a 1.2% year on year CAGR from 2021's figure of 998,890 metric tons, a rise of 4.8% since 1966. Bangladesh was the highest producer in 2021, at 998,890 metric tons, with India, Russia and the US ranked second, third and fourth.
