This demand has stayed relatively consistent since 2017, yet it was only enough for Egypt to rank 49th in 2021, with Turkmenistan coming in first with 9 million metric tons. Morocco, India and Algeria ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th in terms of consumption in 2021. Meanwhile, Egypt's barley production is expected to fall to 78,910 metric tons by 2026, a 2.3% decrease from the 90,240 metric tons produced in 2021. This supply has been steadily declining since 1966, with Egypt ranked 62nd in 2021 -- Slovenia took first place with 90,240 metric tons. France, Germany and Canada ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in terms of barley production.
