Turkmen consumption of barley is expected to remain steady over the next five years, with an estimated 9,000 metric tons consumed in 2021. That same year, Turkmen barley consumption ranked number 49 in the world, below Serbia's 9,000 metric tons, but ahead of Morocco, India and Algeria, which were numbers 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Production of barley in Turkmenistan is anticipated to decline from 16,000 metric tons in 2021 to 10,500 metric tons by 2026, a decrease of 7% year on year. Since 1997, the country's supply has been steadily decreasing by 4.4% each year. In 2021, Turkmen barley production was the 80th highest in the world, below Tanzania's 16,000 metric tons, but ahead of France, Germany and Canada, which were numbers 2, 3 and 4, respectively.
