Spanish consumption of barley is set to reach 46,000 metric tons by 2026, according to figures from 2021. This represents a 3.4% year-on-year increase since 2017, when the figure stood at 37,000 metric tons. Spain ranked 28th in 2021, with Latvia coming in ahead at 37,000 metric tons. Morocco, India, and Algeria followed in the ranking at numbers 2, 3, and 4. At the same time, Spanish barley production is expected to drop to 7.97 million metric tons by 2026, down 0.1% since 2021. Since 1966, production has decreased by 2.7% year on year. In 2021, Spain ranked 7th, with Ukraine at 8.01 million metric tons. France, Germany, and Canada followed in the ranking at numbers 2, 3, and 4.
