Portugal is set to consume 45,000 metric tons of barley by 2026, up 1.4% from 41,000 metric tons in 2021. Since 2017, its demand has jumped by 1.7% year on year. In 2021, Portugal was in 24th place globally, while Lithuania topped the rankings with 41,000 metric tons. Morocco, India and Algeria were numbers 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Portugal is also set to produce 60,310 metric tons of barley by 2026, up 1% from 57,270 metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, its supply has increased by an average of 4.2% year on year. In 2021, Portugal was in 71st place globally, although Zimbabwe produced the most, with 57,270 metric tons. France, Germany and Canada were numbers 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
