Consumption of barley in the Netherlands is expected to reach 64,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 53,000 in 2021. On average, this is a 3.1% annual increase since 2017, when the country saw a 20.9% year-on-year rise in demand. Pakistan was the top barley consumer in 2021, with 53,000 metric tons. Morocco, India and Algeria were ranked second, third and fourth in the same year. Meanwhile, Dutch production of barley is projected to remain steady, at around 240,200 metric tons in 2026, compared to 240,190 metric tons in 2021. This is a 0.3% rise since 1966. Croatia was the top producer in 2021, with 240,190 metric tons. France, Germany and Canada were ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
