Nepal's barley consumption is projected to drop by almost 10% over the next five years, according to the latest figures. In 2021, the country consumed 16 thousand metric tons of barley, which put it in 36th place worldwide. Italy took the top spot with the same amount of barley consumed. Morocco, India and Algeria were the second, third and fourth biggest consumers. Meanwhile, Nepal's production of barley is expected to see a marginal decrease of 0.3% by 2026, compared to 2021. In 2021, Lebanon had the highest production of 30,430 metric tons, followed by France, Germany and Canada. Nepal produced a total of 29,960 metric tons that year, placing it 76th in the international rankings. Since 1966, the country's barley production has decreased by 1.5% year-on-year.
