Iraqi barley consumption fell 16.4% in 2021 compared to 2020, totalling 27,000 metric tons. This marked a decrease of 18.6% since 2017. Spain overtook Iraq to rank 30th globally, with Morocco, India and Algeria taking the second, third and fourth place respectively. Iraqi barley production is set to grow by an average of 2.7% year-on-year, reaching 1.4 million metric tons by 2026. Since 1966, production has increased by 19.2%. Hungary overtook Iraq to rank 26th globally, with France, Germany and Canada taking the second, third and fourth place respectively.
