Taiwanese pig production is on a downward trajectory, with an estimated 1.2% fall year on year, from 1.3 million heads in 2021 to 1.2 million heads by 2026. This marks a 0.7% decrease since 1966. Taiwan currently ranks 26th in global pig production, with Argentina overtaking it in 2021 with 1.3 million heads. The US Virgin Islands, Brazil and Spain rank 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Taiwanese pork consumption is forecast to grow by 0.3% year on year, from 932,000 metric tons in 2021 to 948,000 metric tons by 2026. This marks a 0.2% increase since 2017.
