Botswana's pig production dropped by 20.4% in 2021 compared to 2020, reaching a total of 206.2 heads. This marks a 19.9% drop from the production figure in 1966. The country now ranks 171st in the world, overtaken by Montserrat. The United States Virgin Islands, Brazil and Spain are the top three producers. Looking ahead, Botswana's pork consumption is forecast to reach 2.35 thousand metric tons by 2026, growing at an average annual rate of 2.3%. This is a stable increase from the 2021 figure of 2 thousand metric tons.
