In 2021, the country was 144th in the world rankings with 2,870 heads, behind Tuvalu at 2,870 and the United States Virgin Islands, Brazil and Spain in second, third and fourth place respectively. In 2018, Gambian pork consumption had risen to 1 million metric tons, up 9.7% from 2017.
